Rafi Dean - Reflection

1 part deep house, 2 parts electronica, a pinch of experimental ambient soundscapes, and a side serving of found sounds and techno.

Together with local DJs from Frontallabs, Rafi has spun at the top clubs in Singapore under the guise of for[e]sight. Clubs conquered include Zouk, Phuture, Homeclub, Centro360 and The Liquid Room.

In July 2004, Rafi made his debut appearance in Melbourne, Australia for a one-off progressive gig; Sideways @ Tilt, playing alongside Ivan Gough and Sean Quinn. Upon his return to Singapore, he clinched the Runner-up trophy in the Juice DJ Quest 2004, and was subsequently awarded Juice Magazine (Singapore) – Best New Local DJ in December 2004.

In 2005, he began concentrating on performing a hybrid DJ set, mixing on Ableton Live and collaborating with DJs & musicians. This fluid performance brought Rafi and his team (Marc Lim on guitars, DJ Weili on decks + guitars) to the Semi-Finals of the Heineken Thirst 2005 competition in Singapore, and a special invitation to perform together with local darlings PopMyCherry at the Singapore Spotlight at the Hong Kong Fringe Club in January 2006.

2006 also saw Rafi helming the decks as resident DJ at Beach Club in Melbourne, Australia dishing out a variety of music ranging from jazz, downtempo, house, breaks and techno.

Rafi has since been working on both live electronic sets and reactive visuals. 2010 saw the beginning of local audio-visual super-collective SYNDICATE, a platform for exploring the future sounds and visual projection experiments. The monthly residency at Homeclub has been a fresh inclusion in the Singapore club scene, bringing things to the next level.
