DJ7 (Sha Yeap) representative of all female collective DJs , S.O.S (Sound Of Sirens). Previously, she started spinning out deep house tunes because of the soul influences and jazz elements. Now, she has switched back to her first love, Hip Hop. After much experimenting that there’s possibility for jazz infusion in hip hop beats. Her inspiration? Nujabes, Kero One, Common, People Under The Stairs and much more. DJ7 got serious in DJ-ing almost a year ago after realizing that girls can rock the scene behind the decks. While still in the process of learning the ropes, her ideal playing style is influenced by J.Rocc, DJ A.M, DJ Jazzy Jeff and their creative set that combines with turntablism. Her real hero? DJ QBert, someone with a high note of musical intelligence.
More of S.O.S: Under the guidance of Singapore's own DJ heroines, Debbie Chia, Cherry Chan and Natalie Pixiedub, S.O.S (short for "Sound of Sirens") was conceived by a bevy of quirky young ladies, eager to unleash their bags of eclectic tunes on the general public. Each lady an inspired graduate of the Miso Flamingo Bootcamp '08 & '09 with diverse tastes in music, but all united in their female national service in S.O.S. Listen out for the sound of sirens amidst the riffraff broadcast on the airwaves today...it's the NS girls (and their quality tunes) to the rescue!
